Izzie Parry2 StarMost of the work was satisfactory, and as quoted. However, we had quite a few problems
- USB sockets were meant to be installed on the power sockets. When we raised this there appeared to be a misunderstanding between our requirements and what was quoted. Mario charged £40 to switch over 2 of the 8 sockets (a 20 minute job). Since we had paid >£2,000 for all the work, this seemed unnecessary
- the metal frame covering a wire cut into the wall was left sitting slightly proud of the wall, so when a plasterer came to cover it, he had to create a bump in the wall to cover it
- we paid £450 for wired smoke alarms to be installed, as we were advised these would be needed if the property was ever rented out. We have since found out, from a simple Google search, this is not a legal requirement, and that the battery powered alarms we already had installed were sufficient
- the quote clearly stated “ Total inc plaster work” at the bottom. However, halfway through the job we were informed that not all plaster work was included in the price
Mistakes happen, but there seemed to be quite a few on this job. It was a battle to get the first problem partial rectified, and we are now left with an uneven wall and £450 out of pocket for smoke alarms which are unnecessary and more expensive to maintain in the long run.Sunday 14th February 2021
