Kate & David Waggner-Heathcote2 StarSafe electric quoted significantly more than other companies for a landlord electrical survey (EICR). However, Raphael sounded very knowledgable and inspired confidence in me. (They charged £320 for two bed house). After the survey I was told that in order to certify the property I’d need to install four interconnected alarms at a cost of £1000. The EICR regulations do not require this and I can fit four good quality (Fireangel) interconnected myself for £200 which perfectly well comply. Raphael would not accept my solution unless it was vetted and approved by the council. Basically I’m being held hostage since I won’t get cert unless I spend the money,. Safe electric may be very knowledgable but after this experience I have to say that they are not appropriate for normal housing electrics. A Pragmatic and perfectly legal and safe solution offered by me was not enough. I’ve had to use another electrician in order to get certification and they were professional, practical, cost effective, and were happy to approve new 10 year battery powered alarms for my property (in line with legislation) rather than require £1000 spent. Very friendly and helpful and Raphael knew exactly which plumber to contact when the problem escalated to include water-leaking issues, which was what was causing the problem.
